Sports
Getting involved with Physoc sports is a great way to get to know your coursemates, make friends with students in other years and to stay fit. The emphasis is on taking part, however there have been some notable achievements, particular with the 11-a-side football teams, who came second in their division in the Wednesday league, and won their division in the Sunday league.
Physoc have entered sports teams into the intra-mural competitions (competing against other clubs and societies) for whatever sports there has been sufficient interest. In the 2008/2009 academic year, this included basketball, football, netball, rugby and squash. Unlike some other clubs and societies, Physoc completely subsidises sign-up fees.
In addition to the intra-mural program, Physoc runs some inter-departmental events, the most notable being the indoor 5-a-side football, which is consistently popular, results of which can be seen on our league website. There is also a Physoc pool tournament run by Sports, competing not only for the prestige of being Physoc pool champion, but to be the holder of a rather large trophy as well.
To get involved you can contact me, but nearly all activities require sportrec membership.
