During your busy physics degree, there may come a time you'd like to try something a little different. A great way to do this, whilst still being able to socialise with your course mates, is Physoc Sports!
Intramural sports are a big deal at Southampton - sports teams from different academic societies play matches against each other in various leagues, and at times, it is known to get very competitive! Physoc have teams in badminton, basketball, futsal as well as our successful and popular football team, who have weekly training sessions, matches and socials. We welcome anyone of any ability and experience, and there is a chance to sign up at the beginning of the year, and create a sports team if they don't already exist - all we are looking for is enthusiasm and team spirit!
New for this year, we are joining up with the Electronics and Computer Science Society (ECSS) and the Engineering Society (SUES) to create a netball team. Not only will this give you a chance to make friends outside of your course, but will give us more of a chance to win some shiny medals!
Both teams have got stuck into the Intramural League and have been successful in matches; so if you think this might be for you - get involved! Training will usually take place on a Wednesday afternoon and everyone is welcome.
I urge you all to get involved with Physoc Sports, and if you have any questions or ideas, don't hesitate to contact me in the coming year. I hope to see all of your game faces!
